Make New Friends
Joining CYC events means you’ll meet students from other schools and districts. These friendships can grow into lifelong relationships and provide you with a peer support network during the difficult transition from school to work. The friends you make at CYC can enable you to reach further and achieve more. They become a group of people you can count on and look to for support.
CYC also offers a lively online forum where you can discuss the issues that are important to you. Talk about what’s going on at school, study difficulties and tips, advice for applying to colleges, and how to adjust when transferring to a new high school. Or, just use the forum to talk about music, movies, and fun!
Do you play a sport? Or, would you like to learn one? CYC can be a place to team up with others who share your passion for basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, and other team sports you’re interested in!
You’ll also have more opportunities to volunteer when you join CYC. We are constantly on the lookout for opportunities for our members. Additionally, you can start your volunteer efforts with CYC by joining an event committee and making the group activities a success.
Why should you volunteer? Volunteers tend to be happier and more successful people overall. When you begin your volunteer journey as a student, you gain valuable skills that you will carry throughout your future achievements. Taking the time to volunteer also exposes you to new experiences that can help you in choosing your priorities and your future career path. Benefits of volunteering include:
